Super Bowl LV

This past weekend was Super Bowl LV, which took place in Tampa Bay, Florida. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced the Kansas City Chiefs. The Super Bowl is the biggest sporting event of the year in America. Many viewers enjoy tuning in whether it is to watch the game or to watch the halftime show. Undoubtedly, many fans also enjoy eating traditional football foods such as chips, wings, and pizza. However, many tuned in specifically for the funny and eclectic commercials.

Sports hold a popular role in the pop culture world, and the Super Bowl is no exception. Personally, I was more excited to watch the game. I knew the matchup between Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady was going to be intense. Since my team was not in the Super Bowl, I did not care who won. This matchup between the Chiefs and Bucs was going to be historic because it was the first time in Super Bowl history that a team was playing on their home field (Tampa Bay). This was also Tom Brady’s first year on his new team in the NFC. The Chiefs were Superbowl champs the year prior because of their explosive offensive ran by Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce. The Chiefs only lost two games this season, and they looked unbeatable. My prediction for the game was the Bucs but would win only by a few points.

However, the game did not go as I thought it would. The Chiefs were blown out and lost by 22 points, and Tom Brady won his seventh Super Bowl ring. The Buccaneer's defense was too much for the Chiefs that they were not able to score a single touchdown. Brady was not able to be stopped either. He threw for 201 yards and for three touchdowns. I would not blame this loss on Patrick Mahomes because he was being pressured by Tampa’s vicious defense the entire night. This game proves that you need a great defense to win championships. This was probably the best Super Bowl if you are a Bucs fan, and the worst if you are a KC fan.

As much as I enjoy watching the game, many people enjoy watching the commercials that are played during the Super Bowl. I did watch some of the commercials and I saw some of the commercials that we watched in class a few weeks ago. Some of my favorite commercials were the M&M’s, Bud Light, Rocket Mortgage, and when life gives you lemons commercial. I am curious about what commercials did you like? Another big tradition at the Super Bowl is the halftime show. The Pepsi Halftime Show was done by the Weeknd this year, and I had high expectations for this one. I think the show was good but did not reach my expectations. I know there are a lot of mixed opinions about this halftime show. Some people found it exciting and amazing as others did not. I do not think it was the best, but definitely not the worst. What did you guys think of this halftime show? I am curious to hear others’ opinions on the show and the Super Bowl in general!
